Off to Fowey at the end of the month

Never been to Cornwall, always Devon or abroad for me

Got a few places lined up, Eden Project, Looe etc

Any other places you recommend ?

Re: Cornwall
holywell bay is nice, fish & chips in penzance, getting a boat over to st michael's mount is interesting & hiring a boat in mevagissey & sailing round the coast is great but all these things may no longer be available because of the plandemic bollocks

Love Cornwall, been many times, got mates there and had an ex there too.
The Minnack Theatre is pretty special.
Don't bother with Lands End or The Lizard, anti climax!

Mevagissey, lovely little town

It's a lovely place. Lockdown has ruined it a bit.

Re: Cornwall
It's the UKs South of France for food and drink.
They have their own fantastic food & drink culture, great local food sources, especially fish & sea food obviously.
Cornish Wine, Champagne, Meade etc.
Worth a visit just for the food & drink if you're into that sort of thing.

It certainly is, and not too far from the Eden Project as well.
Also The Lost Gardens Heligan is nearby.
Lovely part of the world.

I've been walking the Coastal Path for a few years now, have managed Minehead to Perranporth so far, some of the views have been breathtaking, have little coastal path amble if you get the chance.

Used to work at the satellite station at Goonhilly - think all except the first aerial (Arthur) have gone now and it's no longer active but believe there's a small techie museum there you can visit if it's pissing down and the pubs are shut.

Seal sanctuary nearby - Looe, I think - and The Blue Anchor (if it's still there) in Helston for a pint of knock-your-fucking-block-off and some live jazz.

Culdrose RNAS may have a museum, plus there's always the tin mines.

Definitely the prettiest of little fishing ports and still has its soul (and a delicious fish van - sardine baps Mmmmm) unlike Padstow.and, to a lesser extent Polperro.
Boscastle is also great and good walks along the North Coast.
My favourite is body boarding and good place to go are Bude (Widemouth Bay), Polzeath and Constantine Bay which is good for rockpooling too if you have kids. There is a lovely rocky beach called Millook on the North Coast too which is a good spot for seal spotting and a picnic.
Great walks on Bodmin moor - My favourite is one to the top of Garrrow Tor which takes in King Arthur's Hall (it isn't really) a stone circle and a ruined village.
Loads of places to visit if you like wildlife: The Screech Owl sanctuary and the Otter sanctuary near the Devon border are pretty good.
I wouldn't bother with the Eden Project in full tourist time as it is rammed and that is not why I go there. Heligan is much better. If castles are your thing there are a couple near Falmouth that are worth a viisit,
Worth going when the Perseid meteor shower is on too if you have a place in the middle of nowhere and can bask in the lack of light pollution.

Do a trip to the Isles of Scilly if you get the chance.

The Abbey gardens on Tresco are well worth a visit.

Do a trip to The Turk’s Head pub if you can.

If I was staying in Fowey, one definite would be taking the ferry across to Polruan opposite, and a visit to The Lugger Inn, which I hope is still open after the last year or so.

What sort of things to do are you looking for?

If you have kids (or even if you don’t) they have the best foot golf course in the country down near St Austell. Well worth a visit.

Lizard Point is better than lands end

Drive from St Ives to St Just/Cape Cornwall is great and some lovely coves to stop at. Much quieter than Kynance.

Minnack Theatre is also a must see, even better if you get to see a show. The beach right by it is stunning too.

Might be over an hour to get there, but worth it

Peewee is bang on with all points for the South West area.

But you will need to be on the road for those.

When you say Devon North or South.

Pain in the arse getting to Cornwall, but gotta admit it is worth it.
Doing MTB and hiking in North Devon in September

Leave early morning.

From Essex it’ll take 5hrs, nice drive, no hassle.

That’s to west Cornwall

Re: Cornwall
Leaving very early is good advice. If you go via the A303 you want to be well past Stonehenge before the road starts to get clogged up
